Children and Young People at Risk Print E-mail

We believe a large number of children and young people are not prepared for the every day knocks of life. Life and society has changed enormously over the last 30 years or so. See, Growing up in the 60s and 70s.

Our young people of today are highly sensitive and require emotional literacy, high levels of self-esteem and confidence to avoid falling into any of the following situations:

Education
Schooling has not changed enough. It is recognised that children need the right side of their brains (e.g. creative) stimulated more as they get easily bored and disinterested in school and their teachers. It is no good creating a system which de-skills teachers to make them administrators in a vain attempt to show the existing process is effective. With an emphasis on academic achievement it's no wonder the children are restless and frustrated.

Family life
The pressures on parents are enormous. When one or both parents are working children are often left on their own. Consequently this leaves very little opportunity for quality time for children to be together with their parents. They have meals on their own, spend too much time in their room, out in the street or in isolation all of which can accentuate stress levels. In addition the influence on children is outside the home - global, the internet, TV and their peers.

Peer pressure
Because of the situation at home and school, peer pressure has a very big impact on our children and young people. It has recently been acknowledged that empathy and acceptance with and from a child's peer group is more important to them than achieving academic success.

The future
It's time to change, we need a conscious effort to assist our children and young people to become more empowered. The basis for self development is a sound foundation of self-esteem and confidence. We have adapted leading edge techniques formed in life coaching, parent coaching and NLP as the platform for this work. Neuro-Linguistic Programming is the study of how information is processed to create excellence in performance. Do check out the pages that resonate with you - together we WILL empower our children.
