Supporting potential
My heart goes out to teenagers - it's such a shame the behaviour of a small number can give them all a bad name. Then there's the jolt of going from being kings of the castle in primary school to the youngest in secondary school. All this while their bodies are changing and there are pressures from parents, peers, teachers and society. They need our support in spades.

Teenagers need parents to be there for them but at the same time invisible. Of course, as parents, you have your own challenges - and this is bound to influence your children. That's only natural.

Helping them through this important period in their life is something you can do. And Develop Your Child (DYC) can provide you with some great tools to help you achieve it, while creating a powerful new connection with your children.

Understanding teenagers
Adolescence has a big impact - imagine waking up in the same body with a whole lot of feelings and emotions firing off, the majority of which are new to you. So it's not surprising when teenagers don't understand how their feelings affect their behaviour, and have difficulty expressing themselves.

They can feel they're not respected, listened to or valued by parents. They may have challenges with self-identity which can badly affect their self-esteem. Being angry with the world, not liking themselves and/or not feeling they have an identity can all be issues. They also have a habit of saying outrageous things - but my message would be, look beyond that at what they actually do.

Hidden magnificence
Even with all that going on, teenagers these days do have incredible talents, abilities and potential that we can help to nurture. They tend to be emotionally sensitive, intuitive, knowing and telepathic. There can also be real creativity in the way they look at things.

We think that taking a different approach to teenagers can help them to discover their own brilliance. By showing them how to trust their intuition and inner knowing, we can help them discover the magic and potential of a deeper level of personal empowerment.

The magic starts here
At DYC, we train our trainers to go even beyond the usual coaching approaches and to see the magnificence and potential in your teenagers. Helping them appreciate the importance of thought is a key part of our work. We can show them how thought creates our feelings and emotions which, in turn, influence our behaviour. So teenagers can start to understand that they can manage their behaviour - because behaviour can be changed as easily as changing their thoughts. The other magical impact of this is that they learn how they can create their own reality and that what they see and how they feel about something is what manifests.

Helping your teen see their own inner beauty
Low self-esteem is an issue for many teenagers - often caused by being surrounded by negativity and perhaps a feeling that if they can't do anything, why bother trying. We help them look at themselves differently; to see the beauty they have inside - and that assists them in becoming motivated and aspirational.

Another important area of our work with teenagers involves explaining how they can't control other people. It's designed to help them in relationships with themselves, their peers, family members and the social side of their lives.
