Simple Things Your Child Can Do Print E-mail

There are lots of little things that your children can say or do that will make them feel good or even great. The effect on the recipient is even more powerful, so go for it and encourage your children to do at least one a day of each of the examples below.

You can print this page out so they can tick them off. As they start to enjoy the results they/you can add an extra column or two. Some suggestions are below, if you want to add more please do so.

Smile
It is so easy to do, but a full on genuine, eye contact broad smile works wonders for you and the recipient.

Remember the name
Remember the name of the person you are talking to, especially outside of school. They will be impressed and the conversation will flow better.

Listen
The more you listen, the more you will learn about someone and the more they will want to talk to you and think you are a very nice person - which of course you are.

Laugh out loud
Not only do you feel good when you laugh out loud, people around you will want to share your enjoyment.

Sharing
Share whenever you can, this will encourage your friends to share with you and they will know you are a nice caring, sharing person.

Please and thank you
Probably the smallest and most powerful words in the dictionary. Said with genuine feeling you cannot beat these little words.

Use compliments
When ever you can compliment someone for something they are doing or trying to do. It's an easy way to show you care and they will grow in front of your eyes.

Appreciate what you have
The grass is always greener but the more you appreciate what you have now the more you will get later.

Positive affirmations
These are particularly effective with children as they have not yet been bombarded for years with negativity and self doubt. See the separate page for some notes on positive affirmations.
